![]() ![]() When you need a clue, you have to wave your arms at the camera for a while until they see you and ask what you need. They did not monitor you while you're in the room. The staff at the Midtown location were VERY unengaged. Our family has done 11 Escape Rooms (successfully escaped 10), and the Rec Room at Midtown was the worst experience. We did 1 room at the Midtown location (Rec Room) and were VERY disappointed. We have done 2 rooms in the Woodlands and they are great. Was very rude and with so many good escape room options in Houston we don't plan on returning.Įscape the Room Texas has 2 locations: Midtown and the Woodlands. We had the last item solved so when she came in we asked if we could enter it in and she told us it doesn't matter because we lost and told us 3 times we didn't escape. A warning message or some heads up in the pregame debriefing would have been nice. When we would use a clue it was clear C wasn't paying attention and one time she had so ask which clues have you found so far? Having 6 people pay $35 for a room you'd like the person could be paying attention for the hour we are in the room.ĬONCLUSION: We were DQ'd for setting off trip lasers which I have never seen in an escape room or encountered a way you could lose besides the time running out. Also one of the beer taps was turned backwards so the name of the beer showing was incorrect which made that challenge difficult. A little tact and explanation of what happened would go a long way. Clearly a mistake on the staff's part and not ours. In the 2nd room the giant safe wasn't reset and locked since the last game so we opened it to get to the the 3rd room and our game manager yelled at us over the speaker that we would be disqualified if we didn't close it so they could lock it. ![]() Room Set-up: Overall some unique puzzles and cool rooms. About halfway through the game we were struggling and she told us we had to go back and get items from the first room and bring to the 2nd room. We haven't seen rooms do that before so we asked her again if that was the case and she said yes. Pre-Game: Our game manager C, got us set up in the room and told us the game had 3 rooms inside it and the items you find in the room you would only use in that room. ![]() As good as an escape room is, it's only as good as the human component, and Dillon was wonderful.īravo, Houston Escape Hunt Experience! His friendly and professional demeanor made everything run smoothly, and we loved chatting with him afterwards. I must also take a moment to also praise Dillon, the Manager and our Game Master. I am proud to say that we brought the command module safely home and had one of, if not the, best times. There were many interesting puzzles that had to be done in a particular order and required great teamwork and communication. This was by far the most entertaining, realistic, and complicated escape room I've ever been in. Eight of my colleagues (all from the touring production of Disney's ALADDIN) and I booked "Houston, We Have A Problem" after taking a VIP tour of NASA, so the Apollo 13 story was fresh in our minds and made the rescue scenario feel very current. ![]()
